18 Abril, 2019 Feriado secular : A descoberta de ouro em 1867 despertou a cobiça dos Ingleses, que acabaram por ocupar o território, apesar das reivindicações de Portugal, a quem a Grã-Bretanha dirige um ultimato em 1890. A colónia ficou designada, em 1895, Rodésia em homenagem a Cecil Rhodes, que promoveu a sua constituição. A parte sul desenvolveu-se mais do que a norte. As duas Rodésias associaram-se, em 1953, com a Niassalândia para constituírem a Federação da África Central, na qual a Rodésia do Sul era a parte mais importante. Desfeita a Federação em 1963, a Niassalândia tornou-se independente com o nome de Malawi e a Rodésia do Norte com a designação de Zâmbia, mas o Reino Unido negou-se a conceder a autonomia à Rodésia do Sul por ser governada pela minoria branca: esta decretou unilateralmente a independência em 1965 e adoptou o regime republicano em 1980. O bloqueio económico decretado pela ONU e a guerrilha, que ganhou extraordinário impulso após a independência de Moçambique em 1975, fizeram com que o país ascendesse à independência em 1980, tomando então o nome de Zimbabwe. Em 1980, Robert Mugabe, o líder nacionalista negro, é eleito, submetendo o país a um regime socialista. Em 1987 é estabelecido um regime presidencial, sendo Mugabe eleito chefe de Estado. 1 Maio, 2018 Feriado secular : Chicago, sábado 1 de maio de 1886: 350.000 trabalhadores estão em greve. Elas querem uma 8 horas de trabalho diário. Todas as indústrias estão paralisados nacional. Na segunda-feira, a polícia abriu fogo. Na terça-feira, Chicago está novamente em greve. Na sequência de uma bomba lançada contra eles, a polícia abriu fogo. 12 mortos, dos quais 7 polícias. 8 anarquistas serão condenados e executados. Em 1889, o Movimento Internacional Socialista reuniu em Paris e declarou este dia internacional trabalhadores dia . Os soviéticos tomaram a mesma decisão, assim como os nazistas. Na França, ao abrigo do regime Vichy (1940-1944), a festa foi renomeado Dia do Trabalho .

13 Maio, 2018 Cartões/Flores : Mother’s day has evolved in many countries in different ways. This is because mother’s day has different origins in different countries and therefore occurs on different days in the year.
One school of thought claims that this day emerged from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Mother worship which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of gods, and Rhea, the wife of Cronus, was held on March 15 to March 18 around Asia Minor. They insist that this custom spread around the world.
Mothering Sunday is the celebration of motherhood in the United Kingdom. It is also known as Mid-lent Sunday, Rose Sunday and Laetare Sunday. It originally comes from the Victorian practice of allowing servants to return home to visit their mothers on this day.
In the United States, Julia Ward Howe (May 27, 1819 - October 17, 1910) was a prominent American abolitionist, social activist, and poet. Howe’s Battle Hymn of the Republic was first published in the Atlantic Monthly in 1862 and quickly became one of the most popular songs for the Union during the American Civil War. After the war she focused her activities on the causes of Pacifism and women’s suffrage. In 1870 she was the first to proclaim Mother’s Day, with her Mother’s Day Proclamation. U.S. President Woodrow Wilson approved Mother’s Day in 1914
